105 FT MOTOR MINESWEEPER WW2 MINESWEEPER (1943)

Description

The Motor Minesweepers were built between 1940 and 1944, they were of all wooden construction which was considered safer when sweeping for Magnetic mines. They were origionally intended to be able to sweep the full range of mines, but, due to their poor towing capacity they were relogated to sweeping for magnetic mines only. Later in the war however, they did carry equipment for sweeping Acoustic mines usually in the form of a Hammer box mounted on an A frame over the bows of the ship

The Hull

Our glass fibre hull for this model is moulded in white GRP and has the large rubbing strake included into the moulding. Any additional details are minimal which reflects the design of the origional vessel.
