Description

H.M.S. Norfolk was the first Type 23 Frigate to enter service with the Royal Navy, and she was commissioned on the 1st June 1990.

The Type 23s are general-purpose frigates, and were originally built as a replacement for the Leander class frigates. Armed with a single 4.5” gun, the Harpoon SSM missile system, and they are the first ships to operate the vertical launch Sea Wolf missile system.

The Type 23 frigates will form the backbone of the Royal Navy, well into the twenty first Century, with thirteen ships already in service, with a further three building.

The Hull

We supply the Fleetscale glass fibre hull for this model, which is moulded in light grey, and comes with the usual markings of Quarter deck openings, shaft outlets, “A” frames, and rudder positions, moulded onto the hull to aid construction.
